A question that often floats through my mind...
Why do people always feel the need to "one up" another person?
I find this most evident when a group of women get together. Someone is always smarter, prettier, richer, less fortunate, happier, sadder, etc...
Sometimes you can simply say, "I'm tired." and that can snowball into "Well I am tired because ______."
We are all guilty of this. Just over the weekend, we were out for a friend's birthday. All of us ladies were dancing and having fun. We went to the restroom and one of the other women started talking about her plans for the following day and I say the following...
"I have to go to Toledo for a baby shower and a funeral."
Our other friend burst out laughing and called me out on it. She told me I pulled a Kristen Wiig from SNL. We all laughed and my "one up" was unintentional. Got to love a friend who is honest enough to tell you.
We are all quilty of doing this, sometimes I wonder why I opened my mouth and spoke.
