One and done birthday party

How did we get so lucky to have just enough snow for a sledding party in a winter that has been mild and practically snow free???  I almost didn't believe it was going to happen.  We've had only a few inches and it is the end of January and now tonight (one day after the party) we are supposed to get rain/thunderstorms?  In January?

God blessed us with a beautiful day for the party!  Sunshine, blue skies, crisp temperatures, and about 3 inches of snow.  A sledding party is a perfect compromise for combining a boy/girl party.  We came up with a few other ideas in case the weather wouldn't cooperate (bird feeder craft, snowman bowling, and balloons) and had pizza, snacks, and cake.  They honestly had fun just running around the lodge and playing with the balloons.  Dollar store balloons and 10 kids were happy!

 Balloons

Their half/half cake...University of Michigan and Dora the Explorer!

The moms race
My nephew (3) and Lila wanted to go down together.
Their sled flipped and they both got a face full of snow...Lila said, "Done!"

Once we cleaned up and got back home, we were relieved that we had another successful birthday party and we didn't have to plan another one for a year!  One and done!  Not much to plan since it will be another sledding party:)

Brendan is already planning his future birthdays.  He said he wants a duck cake for his 7th birthday and a Lions cake for his 15th birthday.  His words...not mine.
