Where's Lila?

Lila loves to hide.  I think it is because Brendan loves to play hide and seek and we have taught her to sit quietly and not move.

This is helpful while you play hide and seek.  Not so helpful when Lila just decides to hide when you walk out of the room.

There has been a couple of times that I will be doing stuff around the house while Lila is playing with toys, reading books, or watching a show.  Then all of a sudden it gets really quiet and you hear no noise from your loud toddler.  I'll start calling her name and walking from room to room.  We don't have a large house and there are only so many places she can go.  More often than not she is hiding in our closet or Brendan's closet.  I have found her under our comforter and between the two couches.

She gets so quiet too and she knows how sneaky she is being!

Over the summer I was on the phone with my sister and Brendan and Lila were watching Caillou.  I was packing a lunch for us because we were going to go have a picnic lunch.  All of a sudden there was that "too quiet" quiet.  I peeked at Brendan and he was watching the show.  I asked him where Lila was and he said he didn't know.  My sister and I joked that I lost her while I was in the kitchen and since she can't open doors, I knew she had to be in the house.  I walked from room to room calling her and got no response.  Somewhat panicky I told her I would call her back and Brendan and I went yelling through the house looking for her.

This is where I started getting really nervous.  I knew she was in the house.  I just didn't know where.  Brendan looked downstairs and she wasn't there.  I went into my room and was looking through piles of laundry on the floor and felt eyes on me.  Guess who was staring at me from behind the closet doors with a smirk on her little face. Yup, Lila.  When I went over to get her, she quickly hid her face again and trying not to laugh. What a stink!  Here I had been on the verge of calling "9-1-1" and telling them I had lost my child in my house and she was hiding from me!!!

We know her spots now and it will be harder to trick us!  Thankfully (knock on wood) she has not tried this "hiding" game anywhere other than at home.
